October and Thanksgiving

The month of October was a lazy one.  We spent our weekends watching football on the couch in between naps!  It was great.

We did head out to a Halloween party at a casino.  I dressed as a loofah and Doug just wore a bathrobe and a shower cap.  He had fun gambling and I had fun dancing.

We were blessed to be able to make it back to Atlanta for the entire week of Thanksgiving!  My beautiful friend Amey got married the weekend before Thanksgiving and we just decided to stay the whole week.  The wedding was a gorgeous all day affair that left me knocked out!  Her wedding photographer did an amazing job!  I stole these off of the website because I just had to share them.

She had a fun little photo booth sat up for wedding guest to have their pictures made in.  It was such a fun and cute idea.

Doug had flown in on Saturday morning via the redeye flight from Seattle.  He was a trooper all day at Amey’s wedding, going on no sleep, and he still wanted me to drop him off at a bar to meet up with his high school friends after the wedding!  He has way more energy then I do!

On Sunday the Rea’s hosted a fun little get together for all of our Atlanta friends.  It was so fun to see everyone and finally meet all the adorable kiddos!

Monday was a catch-up-on-sleep day.  We sleep till the afternoon and then went on a Christmas shopping trip with all of our nephews.  So glad to get them what they wanted for Christmas, not have to pay to ship it, and be able to wrap it myself so Ellen doesn’t have to.  We ate dinner at Valerie’s and enjoyed playing with the boys.

Tuesday we got up at 3am so Doug could meet up with my brother to go duck hunting.  We drove down to my Nanny’s and to my surprise everyone got up to greet us at 4am.  After the hunters left I promptly feel asleep on the couch.  I woke up later to my Nanny cooking breakfast saying that the guys were on their way back.  I thought man I have been asleep forever if they are on their way home.  Turns out it was only around 9 and they weren’t having much luck and decided to come on back.  It was fun to eat breakfast, catch up with the Adamson crew, and play games all before 3 o’clock.  We left a little after 3 to head back up to Atlanta to have dinner with the Reas.  We went to eat Mexican food at one of our favorite places and oh how I miss a good cheese dip!  I think I just pretty much drank it out of the bowl!  That night we gave Ellie her Christmas present and she just looked so darn cute in her apron and chefs hat!

Wednesday we ate lunch at Mellow Mushroom (another Atlanta favorite of ours) with our nephews and Ellen.  We spent the afternoon decorating gingerbread houses and playing with the boys.  Doug played outside with Henry and Bennett and I loved watch Wilson crawl all over the place inside.  I think my favorite age is going to be from about 8 months to about 5 years old, which is perfect because Doug says that he doesn’t even like kids until they hit the 5 year old mark.  hahaha  We had our Thanksgiving dinner that night with Ellen and the Harpers and it was delicious!  We celebrated Wilson’s first birthday.  And he loved eating chocolate for the first time!  Happy Birthday Wilson!

Thursday was Thanksgiving.  We went to McDonough for Lunch to have dinner with the Hall side of the family.  It was great to see every one and to see how much my little sweet girl cousins have grown in to beautiful young ladies.  It makes me feel so old to say that I remember changing their diapers!  The food there was fabulous and the only thing missing was my mom and dad.  Around 4 we headed back up to my Nanny’s for dinner and to stay the night.  I didn’t really eat much because I was so full from lunch and the last nights dinner!  It was fun to see everyone again and play games.  I love playing games and from as far back as I can remember there has always been someone at my Nanny’s that would play with me!

Friday we went to Doug’s dad new Lake house.  We went on nice boat ride and out to dinner.  Oh how I miss spending summers on the lake!  Maybe next summer we will be back in the South and I am going to swallow up  the heat that I have been missing these last 5 years in the Pacific Northwest!

Saturday we went to the GA/Georgia tech game.  It was so fun to go to a game and the Dawgs blew the Jackets out of the water!  It was a chilly day so of course I had to find the one stand at the stadium that served hot chocolate.  I had my hot chocolate, Doug had boiled peanuts, and the Dawgs were winning…the day was great!  Doug had to get another Atlanta food fix for dinner so we went to Zaxby’s.  I feel like I gained 20 pounds on this trip eating all this food that we can’t get at home!

Sunday we left Georgia bright and early and made it back home to WA around 3.  Doug was glad to be home and have some time to recover from our trip.  We spent the evening lounging on the couch watching football.  I have no clue what we will do on the weekends when football season is over.
