Hello Little Man!

About a month ago I cohosted a baby shower for our friends Bill and Kortney.  I love throwing showers and I especially love decorating for them!  I got a lot of my ideas off pinterest.  Thank God for that site…it is an amazing go to for anything!  I was loving the little man theme so we ran with that.

We made this wreath by wrapping a straw wreath with black ribbon.  We made the collar buy tracing a collar from a dress shirt onto white fabric then cut it out, folded it, ironed it, and hot glued it together.  I painted a wooden letter blue, glued a paper moustache to it and then glued it to the wreath. Super easy!

Moustaches, ties, and bow ties were everywhere!

I love how this banner turned out!  It was easy to make, just a little time consuming.  We cut out the ties and hot glued them together.  We left the fold unglued so we could slide the rope through it.  We wrapped a piece of fabric around it to appear as a knot and glued it in place.  We used my cricut to cut out the letters.  It was the cutest little “Hello Little Man” banner ever!

I used my cricut to cut out the letters for this banner as well.  We ordered the iron on appliques off line and just ironed them onto the onesies.

I used food coloring, powdered sugar, and a sponge to stamp moustaches on the plates.  When people but food on their plates the food coloring was coming off on their food.  I had to let them know that it was eatable.

All the food was yummy!

We had candy for a party favor.  Guest could grab a plastic bag and fill it up with as much candy as they liked.

We played several games throughout the evening.  We had this game set up and people could “guess who was behind the moustache” whenever they wanted.  We gave bowties to everyone to wear.  Whenever you heard someone say the word “baby” or “Will”, you could take the bowtie.  The person with the most bowties at the end of the night wins.  Of course Doug won this one…he is very competitive.

We had three other “mommy to be’s” there.  Two of the three are also pregnant with boys.  We find out today what the other “mommy to be” is having.  Becca, who is on the far right helped me with the shower.  She is an awesome cohost!

We set up a photo booth area.  Not as many people wanted to stop by for a photo…but we did have some takers.

Kristen is the OB that will be delivering baby Will.

I made these candy moustaches with a candy mold I found at Michael's.  Such a fun photo prop!

And they tasted pretty good too!

I am so happy with how this shower turned out.  I think everyone out here is all babied out for a while.  Next up is Heather’s Bridal shower in August!  It will be here before we know it.

I painted a sign for Will.  I wanted to do something different then what I have done in the past.  I decided, since it was such a short name, to put each letter on a different canvas.  I am picturing it hanging from ribbon.  I will have to stop by soon to help her hang it!

Home Sweet Home

Back in March we made a quick trip home.  I took a red eye flight on Wednesday night and arrived on Thursday morning just in time to get to the convention center for the classes that I signed up for at the Hinman Dental Convention.  I took enough classes to meet my continuing education requirements for the next year!  On Friday Julie and some other hygiene girls met up and spent the day at Hinman and then went out to dinner at Chow Baby.  At this restaurant you put everything that you want grilled (vegetable,  carb., sauces, and meat) in a bowl.  They grill/sauté it and bring it to you at your table.  It was delicious!  Good pick Julie!Hawaii 031538115_532492251085_198400381_30676532_1344250311_n[1]

Doug took the same red eye on Friday night that I took and he arrived Saturday morning.  Ellen, Judd, and I met him at Waffle House for breakfast.  After breakfast we had some down time with Henry and Bennett.  They are getting so big!  I think Henry is almost as tall as me!

We spent a gorgeous afternoon at the Atlanta Zoo.  I haven’t been to the zoo since I was in Elementary school.  I had such a great time!  It was great spending time with our nephews…too bad that I didn’t get any pictures of our newest nephew Wilson.

After the zoo Ellen had a little open house at her place for people that we haven’t seen since are wedding to drop by so we could say hi.  It was so great to see everyone!

We had a packed schedule and next up was going out to dinner with our friends.  We meet up at the Rea’s before going out.  We waited, and waited, and waited for princess Ellie’s sitter to show up.  She was a no show!  Ellen came to the rescue and watched Ellie at her place for the night.  Thanks Ellen…you're the best!

We went to Pappasit0s for dinner.  They have a great atmosphere and awesome margaritas!  This is where we had our rehearsal dinner…so many great memories of that night.  We had a great time enjoying the company of so many great friends that came out for the night!

On Sunday we went to Valerie’s for brunch and met up with Doug’s dad, Bruce.  It was another great morning hanging out with the boys.  After brunch we headed down to my Nanny’s for dinner.  I was in shock when we arrived because my whole family was there!  We had a low country boil.  It was awesome having great fried southern food!  After dinner we stayed up late playing games.  My favorite thing to do with the fam at my Nanny’s!  We stayed the night at my Nanny’s and on Monday we took lunch to my Mammaw and Pappaw’s.  We had a quick visit with them and then headed to the airport.  We had a great visit crammed packed with seeing family and friends!   I wasn’t that home sick…then I went home and realized what great family and friends we have…and now I am more home sick then ever.  This next year can not go by fast enough.  We knew we were back in the Pacific Northwest when we saw Mt. Rainer out the plane window.  At least the sun was out when we landed!

Green with Envy

We always try to make it to an Irish pub to celebrate St. Paddy’s day and Doug is always decked out in green.  Green pants, green shirt, and always an obnoxious hat.  This year he decided that he didn’t want to chance the bar not having green beer and wanted to bring his own green food coloring along just in case.  I gave him what we had at home and he stuck it in his pocket.  I told him that he was going to get it all over his self.  He argued with me and said that he would be careful.  We made it to the packed out bar and found some seats.  Before any of our friends arrived Doug had already managed to get the food coloring all over his hands!  So this year not only was he wearing all green, he even attempted to make his body green Winking smile.  Silly boy!  The bar’s beer was not green, but all of our beer was, including all my girly drinks!  Thanks babe!Hawaii 004Hawaii 003Hawaii 007Hawaii 012Hawaii 014Hawaii 018Hawaii 029
