Life with Baby Week 10

This is the first week that she has messed with the bunny during our little weekly photo shoot.

We spent this past week at the beach! Madigan and I traveled to Myrtle Beach with my parents. I keep telling Doug that I was on a “business trip” since he wasn’t with me, but I have to be honest and say that it was a great vacation because my parents watched Madigan a ton. I didn’t want her to get too much sun, but I on the other hand was trying to get a tan. Let’s face it…tan fat is way better looking than white fat. My parents would watch her while she napped and I would go lay out by the pool. We managed to bring along her swing and we are so glad that we brought it. This little girl loves her swing and spent the majority of her time at the beach in it!

We dipped her toes in the ocean and she wasn’t a big fan, but she did love swimming in the pool. I even managed to float her on her back for a bit.

This week Madigan has enjoyed sucking on her fist, drooling a little more, and sticking out her tongue. I believe that she has realized that she can control her tongue because she is sticking it out a lot more then she has in the past. Every time I see her sucking on her fist I cringe because I know that is one step closer for her to begin sucking on her thumb. She is super smiley in the morning and a little chatter box! I love our morning chats. She has the sweetest grin and it just makes me want to grin just as big right back at her!

Life with Baby week 9

We had a very productive weekend. My mom and dad came down to visit Madigan and of course I had to put them to work. My dad put handles and knobs on all of the cabinets in the house. It really makes the kitchen seem more complete.

They helped us hang curtains and decorations in 4 different rooms. I know this is silly, but because this is done I can sleep a little better at night. One more thing off the to do list! Now on to finding curtains and rugs for the downstairs.
I am so glad that Madigan is a great shopper because I can only stay home so many days in a row. I have to stay home most days because if I didn't then we would go broke. I am still searching for decor items for our house.
I can only shop in 3 hour increments. I have to be at a stopping point to nurse Madigan.
I have her nursing every three hours. I thought that I had her on a good schedule starting at 6am and ending at 9pm. But she has decided other wise. I put her to sleep after nursing her at 9pm. I am so thankful that she always falls right to sleep when I lay her in her crib. Instead of sleeping until six, this last week she has been waking up hungry between 3 and 4. I nurse her and lay her back down. She nurses again between 6 and 7 depending on when she decides to wake up. After she nurses I put her back in her crib and go run on our new treadmill. This week I have ran 4 out of 5 days! Yay...go me! I nurse her again at 9 and every three hours after that. She has been sleeping a lot during the day lately...she must be going through a growing phase.
This week Madigan turned two months old!!! Time is flying by. She is such a happy baby.

I almost cried this week when I put an outfit on her and it fit. The last time she wore it, it swallowed her up. I am trying not to hold her all day, but I know the day is going to come when she won't want me to/let me.

The last if the furniture that we ordered came on Wednesday. I think that the china cabinet is my new favorite thing. As soon as I could I filled it with all my china. I am so excited about displaying it!!

I'm really happy with the kitchen table as well.

Doug loves holding his little girl too. And she always looks super comfy in his arms.

Life with Baby Week 8

This past weekend our best friends from Atlanta came up to see our new place. We were so excited to see Charlie and Julie and their little munchkins. I had such a fun time playing with Ellie and I can't wait for Madigan to join in on the fun.

They arrived late Friday night and left Sunday afternoon. It was a short and sweet visit full of fun. So much fun that Doug and Madigan needed recovery naps on Sunday.

Doug had his first full week at work and was on call on Tuesday. The great thing about being this close to family is that when Doug is on call I can go visit my mom on those days! So on Tuesday morning I loaded Madigan up and headed up to my mom and dads to have a couple of days of shopping. We shopped till we dropped! I am trying to decorate and make our house a home. It is amazing how much homey a house becomes just by adding a few rugs and some curtains.

Madigan is smiling all the time!

And she is holding her head up really well.

I'm trying to come out from behind the camera more often and take more pictures with her.

Her newest trick that she likes to do is standing on our laps. She is already tired of laying down or being held all the time, so now that she is getting better control of her head she likes to be up to see everything. This little girl is growing way too fast!

Life with Baby Week 6

Ellen came to visit this week and she was a life saver! She arrived on Thursday and I was so glad to see her. I was feeling so overwhelmed with all the boxes scattered about. I got most of the boxes unpacked and most of the rooms in order because she was here to watch Madigan.

My parents came down on Saturday and the painted continued. We painted our room a “clean blue” as my mom calls it. I love it! I hope that I can keep the “clean” feeling going throughout the downstairs. I want to lighten up the downstairs since the furniture we picked out is a deep brown leather set and the kitchen cabinets are dark as well.

The living room furniture arrived on Tuesday and I think we made a good choice when we picked it out. Now we just need an end table and a coffee table to finish it up.

Madigan’s big milestone this week is that she is smiling at you when you talk to her.

She loves when people talk to her! Sometimes she will jabber back! She is such a cutie! She is out of newborn clothes completely and in size 1 diapers. She only wakes up once during the night and usually goes right back to sleep. We have us one easy going sweet baby girl!

Life With Baby Week 5

Boy oh boy what a busy week we have had. Madigan went to her first birthday party, said goodbye to her Washington friends, took her first plane ride, moved to NC, and painted her new room.
Madigan got all dressed up for Eastin’s pool party.

We went out to dinner to say goodbye to all of our lovely WA friends.

We took the redeye from Seattle to Greensboro hoping that she would do better at night than during the day. She did so great on the flight from Seattle to Atlanta. She didn’t make a peep. On the flight from Atlanta to Greensboro we almost made it the whole way with another uneventful flight, but when the plane starting going down for the landing she went a little crazy. I think that her ears were bothering her and then she realized that she was hungry. She cried and cried until we got off the plane and I could feed her. Over all she was amazing on the trip and even earned her wings from Delta!

My dad picked us up from the airport and we headed straight to Chic-fil-a for breakfast. Oh how we have missed chicken biscuits and sandwiches! After breakfast and a little pit stop at Nana and Pop’s we headed down to our new house to start painting. We began with Madigan’s room and finished up with it on Sunday evening. I love how the stripes turned out.

On Monday we back to paint the front guest room. We were trying to paint as many rooms as possible before the furniture arrived. We only got two of the four rooms painted before the movers delivered the furniture on Tuesday.

Doug drove from WA to NC with his dad and Wrecks. At first I thought that it was going to take him over a week to make the journey, but he booked it across the country. He left WA on Saturday and was asleep beside me at 2:30am on Wednesday morning! We took it easy on Wednesday. I was exhausted from driving from my parents house to our new house and back 4 days in a row and Doug was tried of driving too. We did manage to do something productive…we bought a new washer and dryer! I am so excited about this purchase.
We came HOME on Thursday and have been unpacking and organizing ever since!
Madigan is pretty much out of her newborn clothes and is in size 1 diapers. She is still being a good sleeper and loves to take catnaps in her swing. We are so glad to be raising this girl in the South!
