Goodbye 2011 and Hello 2012

We had our second annual New Year’s Eve party at our house.  It was a little bitter sweet because who knows if we will be in town next year to have one (hopefully we will be back in Atlanta) and the next year we will be living somewhere else.  I can’t believe Doug is so close to being done with residency!!!!   I hope we can always host a New Years Party no matter where we are because we always have so much fun! 

I threw up a few decorations, cooked some yummy food, and let the fun begin.

I have been collecting wine bottles to do this idea that I found on pinterest…

I spray painted the wine bottles a shimmery gold and stuck some fun silver sprigs in them.  Love the way they turned out!

Of course we had a little photo area set up in the garage.  I couldn’t really come up with a theme…maybe you could say we were having new years in paradise!?!?!!

So glad that we could ring in the New Year with great friends and good times.

Christmas Day

Doug and I didn’t go crazy with gifts this year, but Wrecks sure did rack up.

We made monkey bread and it took forever to cook…but was oh so good!!!

We spent Christmas day hanging out on the couch catching up on TV shows through Netflix (One of Doug’s Christmas gifts).

We had some friends over for dinner and drinks and a friendly game of Pictionary!  It was a great way to spend a relaxing Christmas!!!

Cute Christmas Gifts

For Christmas most of my gifts have to be mailed across the country.  After the first year of attempting to have really cute wrapping jobs I realized that by the time the package arrived it is never as cute and when I put it in the box.  This year I saw this idea on pinterest and thought that it might make it to the recipient in one cute piece. 

I had attended a pampered chef party and got these really great spatulas and bamboo cooking utensils.  I picked up the oven mitts from bed, bath, and beyond and the decorative filler from Wal-Mart.  I stuffed the utensils into the mitt with some tissue paper and tied it real tight with the pretty ribbon I got from Costco.  I hope they arrived looking super cute!

Holiday Photo Shoot

I love putting our Christmas cards together.  The first step is finding someone to take our picture.  Last year I lucked up and won a free sitting with one of my patient’s daughter.  She lives in Kentucky and just had a set of twins so I knew she wouldn’t be in town anytime soon.  I typed our zip code and the word photographer into Google and I found someone near by who gives military discounts.  I loved her work and when we met with her, I loved her to.  Her husband is getting out of the Army and they were moving to Utah in December.  She is going to start hygiene school in the Fall.  So looks like I will have to find another photographer to take our picture next year.

Better Late than Never

I have been MIA from blogging.  It has been on my to do list for a while now and I have just been so lazy that I never got around to it.  Well I better blog now about stuff that I can remember that happened almost three months ago before I forget.

Back in the beginning of December my grandmother and brother came out for a visit.  Doug was just starting a new rotation and actually had the time off when they came and I happened be off work so they got really lucky and didn’t have to spend too much time at our house watching TV without us!

Doug picked them up from the airport and brought them to my office so  I could clean my brother’s teeth.  (Sorry family….but if I can clean your teeth when you are here it is most likely going to happen.) 

Friday Doug and Justin went duck hunting and shoot a few.  We are currently waiting to pick them up from the taxidermist.

While the guys were hunting my Nanny and I went to lunch at this cute little Victorian tea house in this cute little town.  We had a great time sitting a chatting.  It was great having my grandmother all to myself!  We walked through some shops in the town and headed back home. 

I can’t remember what we did on Saturday but I am sure it was fun..ha.  On Sunday we drove over the pass to Leavenworth, a little barbarian town.  Going to Leavenworth at Christmas time was on our to do list so it was great to take company with us.

The town was beautiful all lit up with Christmas lights!

Since my nanny is such a trooper and the coolest grandmother ever she agreed to pose for a old timey picture.

On Monday Doug went back to work and we went to explore Seattle.  We rode the ducks, walked around Pike’s Place Market, and ate at the Crab pot.

We left Seattle and had a little time to spare before I took them to the airport so we went to the movies.  We had a great time being together and I was sad to see them go.  Maybe they can come back again before we move.
